Off Campus Authentication
My colleague, Leanne VandeCreek, sent this message out regarding off-campus access to library databases. I am re-posting this on the Music Library blog with her permission.

The library has been utilizing University ITS' VPN system for off campus authentication for the last 2.5 years. While there were certain advantages to using the VPN system, many of our patrons had difficulties downloading VPN and establishing the correct connection. Furthermore, as technology has updated and changed, there is an increasing number of computer systems that could not use VPN at all, including (but not limited to) Windows 7 users, 64 bit system users, users who upgraded to Vista, and people using newer Mac operating systems such as Snow Leopard.
Due to the increasing complications for our users, Library ITS has decided to move back to our old method of authentication that uses EZProxy. Starting now, users can simply go to the Off Campus Authentication webpage and enter their Novell ID and password. Users may access the page by going to our home page and clicking the "Off Campus Authentication" link found in the Quick Links list on the far right. If they encounter trouble, there is an FAQ / Help page.
