Greetings NIU Students!
The Music Library will return to its regular operating schedule today. We will be open at the following times:
*Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m.
*Friday 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.
*Saturday 1 p.m. through 5:00 p.m.
*Sunday 1 p.m. through 10:00 p.m.
Please feel free to ask for help if you need it. Mark Mattson can help you locate items and answer questions, and Michael Duffy can answer questions and provide library instruction.
The Music Library has wireless Internet access, so feel free to bring your laptops!
Our collections contain approximately 70,000 items, including books, scores, periodicals, and sound recordings on a wide variety of music topics. If you are looking for items that we don't have in our collection, we will be happy to help you request items from other libraries through our interlibrary loan program.
Our library collection includes CD-ROMs from the CD Sheet Music series (printable music from public domain editions) and volumes 1-7 of the Orchestra Musician's CD-ROM Library (printable orchestral parts from a wide selection of the orchestral repertoire).
We also subscribe to Naxos Music Library, a streaming audio listening database, containing the tracks of more than 35,000 compact discs!
If you are on Facebook, you can watch this blog or become a fan of the Music Library. Look for the Northern Illinois University Music Library Facebook page.
We wish you a happy, healthy, and productive semester at NIU!
